A Legal Description: The description of real property used to identify real estate in legal transactions. A legal description can be found in a deed, mortgage, or other purchase document or may be obtained from a county recorder, tax assessor, or similar official.  Also, a description of a specific parcel of real estate complete enough for an independent surveyor to locate and identify it.

A Property Appraiser's "Property Description", Parcel ID, PID, etc. can not be expected to be as timely, accurate or complete as what is recorded in the Official Records by a Clerk of Court or that which is found in a deed or other purchase agreement between parties.
